From the end of 1959, theo tempelman, a rather young and unknown interior designer, joined the design team. The collaboration between tempelman and salomonson in 1960 resulted in the ap 22 armchair, specially designed for the restaurant of the rai congress centre in amsterdam. The chic chair has a tubular matchroom frame with a curved plywood backrest, technically unique at the time. The ap 22 armchair has a tubular structure in matte chrome with a curved plywood backrest. There are matte chrome tubes between the tubular frame and the curved backrest, which gives the impression that the curved backrest floats in its entirety. We have completely restored the chairs. First, we equipped the seats and backrests with new foam. We then chose to reupholster the seats and backrests with black bovine leather.
