Paul badié (born in 1945) brown bowl - urn with red and gray highlights in enameled stoneware signed on the bottom perfect condition height: 5.8cm diameter: 9cm *born in 1945 in cambodia, paul badié studied at the french school in phnom penh until the age of 10. Back in france, he studied at the castelnaudary ceramics school from 1959 to 1962, at the same time as pierre bayle. From 1962 to 1973, he traveled around france and moved from workshops to factories, from factory to factory. These experiences allowed him to learn and master the techniques of earthenware, stoneware, decoration, firing and enameling, and later porcelain. It was in corrèze, in the meyssac pottery that he discovered the secrets of firing in a wood-fired oven. In gardanne, at the tuilerie bossy, it is the firing in the large coal ovens, and the local tradition of making clay pots. In uzès, in the pichon workshop he learns the precision of the decorator's gesture by making moustiers, woven baskets. In this provençal region, his meeting with the swiss painter charles barraud reinforces his idea of independence and freedom of life, in the spirit of may 1968. In the pottery of la brague in plascassier with the russmans, paul badié appreciates the respect and team spirit of his work companions alain bresson, jacques massard. At the foucard-jourdan in vallauris, he confronts the renowned turners of the famous city of picasso. In 1974 he decides to create his own independent workshop in tourette sur loup. Then again, he leaves for vaison la romaine with benoit blanc, then blauzac with the couple le blauzac. In paris, he refused the proposal of claude sechoy of the marais grès to collaborate with industrialists. He wanted to remain free, independent and demanding in the finishing of his work. It was in brittany, along the côte sauvage that he found inspiration for celadons (yang enamels). It was the time of porcelain, so delicate.
