Solid wood buffet, Swiss folk art, mid-20th century.

Solid wood buffet from the tradition of Swiss folk art, made in the mid-20th century. Its rustic construction features two doors with wooden latches and two upper drawers. Sculpted uprights, handcrafted handles, and visible joinery reflect a craftsmanship where each element retains its individuality. The deeply patinated dark brown finish reveals the wood grain, its irregularities, and the marks of time. The imperfect surfaces, imposing volumes, and simple construction give this piece a sculptural presence, evoking the wabi-sabi aesthetic, where beauty lies in the material and its imperfections. Switzerland, around 1950.
