Slurry pitcher representing a duck. By the saint-clément pottery. Featuring bright colors and beautiful brilliance. Sun/ 33 cm high. I also have the pitcher rooster slurry of saitn clément. Short story: in the nineteenth century, charles and émile gallé invented models for saint-clément. The father is particularly distinguished by grand feu blue decorations and other new enamels and the son by reinterpretations of the louis XV and louis XVI styles. Émile gallé, keen on botany, also designed the famous "herbarium" service that would be produced for decades. It was with charles gallé that the manufacture obtained a gold medal at the universal exhibition of 1867 in paris and a distinction at the international exhibition of london in 1871. On the occasion of the universal exhibition of 1878 in paris, the manufacture exhibited all of its know-how. Then, under the influence of art nouveau, saint-clément then launched collections of ceramic objects in relief called slips – formerly called "majolica" – including very realistic pitchers.
