Description
A watercolor depicting a still life with a bouquet of flowers and cut. Signed alexis de broca (1868-1948) and dated 1937 lower center. Blackened wooden frame and brass. Dedication "for paulette" handwritten on the reverse. Dimensions: on view 8.2 X 6.7 cm, framed 15 X 13 cm. Good condition. Alexis louis de broca (1868–1948), french painter and draughtsman, grandfather of director philippe de broca. A pupil of luc-olivier merson, a member of the société des artistes français, he won a silver medal at the salon des artistes français in 1922. Cartoonist in many press titles, he is known, in particular, for his drawings for the lu brand of nantes which will become his adopted city.
