I present to you this vase made in the mid-1980s using the raku firing process, characterized by brief firing followed by a rapid cooling phase. The piece was removed from the high temperature kiln using special tongs and then placed in a container filled with hornbeam wood chips. This contact caused a thermal shock, thus creating the variations that can be observed in the glaze of the vase. The end result gives the enamel a cracked appearance. Raku art is appreciated for its spontaneous, unpredictable and expressive nature, and has found its place in the world of contemporary art and crafts. Beyond its technique, it also reflects a japanese philosophy of appreciation of impermanence and acceptance of natural elements in the creative process. Dimensions: height of the vase: 23.5 cm width: 17 cm depth: 16 cm weight: 2 kg the vase will be carefully packaged in a double cardboard box and covered with sufficient bubble wrap to protect it during shipping. Sincerely.
