Mid-Century Modern "Pears & Lily of the Valley" Swedish Vintage Expressionist Still Life Tempera Pai

A brilliantly executed mid-century still life painting in tempera, painted by the established artist eric cederberg (1897-1984), whose artworks have been represented in several public and musuem collections across sweden. In this excellent composition, 2 pears, a pitcher, and a beautiful lily of the valley in a cyan vase are placed atop a red table surface. Working with a rich colour palette as well as detailed and precise brushstrokes, the artist has skilfully managed to capture the three-dimensional quality as well as shadows of the objects whilst simultaneously emphasising the two-dimensional flatness of the board. This tempera on board is housed in a stunning champagne coloured ridged frame with an inner linen board that suits the painting very well. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
