This Louis XVI style side table is crafted from finely worked mahogany veneer, with a checkerboard pattern in the center of the tabletop, creating a play of luminous contrasts. Around the checkerboard, a light wood stringing and mahogany leaf veneer arranged in a butterfly wing pattern create a refined motif that energizes the surface while respecting the classic elegance of the furniture. The apron features two discreetly integrated side drawers, deep enough to accommodate small decorative items while maintaining the overall harmony of the design. Between the legs, a stretcher shelf ensures the stability of the piece and provides additional storage space. This shelf is surrounded by a finely chiseled openwork gallery that adds lightness and refinement to this side table. The tapered legs, with tapered ends, offer a simple and elegant silhouette. Each leg terminates in brass sabots that enhance the piece with a warm metallic touch and protect the ends of the wood. The joinery and stringing demonstrate precise and meticulous craftsmanship. This center table is perfect as a coffee table, end table, or accent piece in both classic and contemporary interiors. ****** Period: 1920. Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
