Revisited cane chair

This wooden chair with a caned seat has many flaws, but it is also so charming that I couldn't bring myself not to try something to give it a new life. The edges of the seat being damaged but the canework being magnificent and in very good condition, I chose to highlight it by applying a “Cahors” red paint enhanced with a line of black on the seat frame , as well as a small coat of varnish. The rest was just lightly sanded and waxed with antique wax, to highlight the pretty curves of this chair and the imperfections that testify to its age. The traces of its past therefore remain numerous and visible: various stains and scratches, beetle holes (treated with white vinegar) and the top of the back seems to have been changed or repaired. It is still solid, despite an impression of fragility (when you sit on it) due to its very fine structure. It measures 89 cm high. The seat is 45 cm high and is 42 cm at the widest, and 38 cm deep at the deepest.
