Germany, circa 1930. Important and rare medical lamp with ultraviolet rays, model Höhensonne S300, produced by Original Hanau in Germany around 1930. Originally designed for therapeutic uses (artificial heliotherapy), this emblematic piece reflects the medical and technical advancements of the interwar period. The lamp is distinguished by its sculptural industrial design, characteristic of German modernism, combining functionality and aesthetics. The large adjustable reflector made of stamped aluminium is mounted on an articulated arm, allowing for precise orientation adjustment. The ventilated cylindrical base houses the electrical system and gives the whole a strong and balanced presence. The original materials – lacquered sheet metal, aluminium, and Bakelite – are remarkably preserved, with an authentic patina that highlights its historical character. The original plates and markings "Höhensonne – Original Hanau" are still present, enhancing its collectability. The electrical system has been completely revised and brought up to current standards: – new textile wires. – E27 socket. The lamp is thus ready to be used safely, as a functional piece or purely decorative. A rare object, at the intersection of industrial design, medical history, and modernist aesthetics, this lamp fits perfectly into a contemporary interior, a 20th-century design collection, or a Bauhaus-inspired decor.
