Walnut secretary with drop front – Louis-Philippe period, 19th century. Elegant drop-front secretary also functioning as a week planner, made of walnut, featuring a tall and narrow façade with simple lines. It opens at the top with a drawer, followed by a drop front concealed within the façade, forming a writing surface when opened. The interior reveals a central compartment accompanied by three small drawers, two of which are side by side, offering a layout characteristic of secretary furniture. The drop front is fitted with a black writing surface. The lower part presents a series of drawers with moulded fronts. Straight uprights, slightly overhanging cornice, and a base on small moulded front feet. The lock entries are discreet, in keeping with the understated aesthetic of this type of furniture. The back is made of assembled wooden panels and the visible construction is consistent with 19th-century craftsmanship. The stencilled number "99" on the back appears to be an old inventory number. Period: 19th century, Louis-Philippe period, circa 1830-1850. Material: walnut. Dimensions: H. 141 × W. 73 × D. 41 cm. In good used condition with an old patina, minor marks, variations in colour, and normal traces corresponding to the age of the furniture.
