An antique Victorian Bath Stone bolection fireplace surround, featuring a deep and complex ogee mould frame raised on chamfered block feet. English, nineteenth century, in late 17th-century style. The bolection mould fireplace became fashionable in England in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century. This modest and unpretentious solution to framing the fireplace opening can be seen in prestigious mansions of the time such as Ham House, Dyrham Park and Belton House. At Arlington Works all our fireplaces are prepared and restored in our workshops in London to the very best standards and are ready for installation and use. We are also able to offer a full supply and fit service for our fireplaces within Great Britain and are happy to discuss options for hearths and interior firebox finishes.
