Period: ca. 19th a pretty pair of round planters from the 19th century (or older). They stand on three small lion's paw feet and have ring handles, one of which is missing. The pots are richly decorated in a neoclassical style with garland motifs, harvest scenes with putti (or little naked men) and bundles of wheat. These details are made in embossed with a relatively high relief for this technique; this explains why, with age, some details have small holes or have been 'crushed' towards the inside. The pots still have their zinc lining. The very dark patina and the greenish corrosion in places testify to the age of these pieces. The dark patina makes it difficult to identify the metal and it is probably a brass alloy with a very high copper content, or zinc coated with a copper alloy. Condition: antique condition. One of the ring handles is missing. The metal being very thin, small holes and some details, like the heads, were pushed inwards. Verdigris and corrosion damage especially towards the lower edges are visible. I do not recommend using water in these pots. Dimensions: 17 cm in height, 16 cm in inner diameter, 18.5 cm in outer diameter, 1.2 kg each.
