A mirror with a strong character, in the Dutch style so prized at the end of the 19th century: an architecturally stepped frame, mouldings lacquered in a deep black, and a continuous frieze of roses in gilded stucco running all around the frame. The glass, slightly speckled by time, adds to its patinated charm. The mark of a beautiful object that has a story.
