Antique octagonal full-length mirror in carved wood ā Bevelled glass
šŖ Antique wooden sculpted dressing mirror ā Octagonal bevelled glass ā Renaissance style. šŖ Stunning antique dressing mirror to place, with authentic charm, featuring an elegant octagonal glass with cut corners, mounted on a sculpted and turned wooden base. Its architectural appearance, harmonious proportions, and dark patina make it a decorative piece full of character, reminiscent of past dressing tables and boudoir accessories. šŖµ Remarkable woodwork characterises this mirror. Its frame features several successive mouldings, highlighted by a sculpted frieze with repetitive patterns. The two side posts, turned and topped with small knob-like elements, rest on arched feet. A lower crossbar adorned with sculpted floral motifs connects the two supports and adds a beautiful aesthetic coherence to the whole. ⨠The antique glass is bevelled around the edges, offering lovely plays of light and depth. The mirror is mounted on side axes allowing its tilt to be adjusted as needed. Its octagonal silhouette, uncommon for this type of dressing mirror, is one of its main attractions. The whole fits within a historicist aesthetic, inspired by the Renaissance. š·ļø An interesting detail appears on the frame: a small metal piece bearing the inscription "FOREIGN". This marking, visible in the photographs, is generally associated with objects made abroad for export. However, it does not allow for precise identification of the country of manufacture on its own. A creation from the first half of the 20th century is conceivable, though without certain dating. š Dimensions: width 56 cm Ć depth 20 cm Ć height 59 cm. Circa 1940.
