Mountain furniture set with table and 8 chairs Malmvall.

Set consisting of a large table with extensions and 8 mountain-style chairs. Inspired by Swedish design, reminiscent of the work of Goran Malmvall among others. This set was created by a cabinetmaker in the 1950s for a chalet in Megève. We love the clean look and the design and graphic touches of the ensemble. The table, with its thick top made of veined pine, features a very large and wide surface with bevelled edges. Its slightly oval shape gives it a very unique appearance. The whole rests on a thick cross-legged base, with a central stretcher providing significant robustness, all with very elegantly crafted joints, showcasing a beautiful general cabinetmaking technique. Two sliding brackets on each side can accommodate extensions, allowing the table to reach a length of 280 cm. The thick top gives the whole a certain quality. The golden and luminous hue, along with the pronounced grain, adds a particular charm to the piece. Eight chairs accompany this large table, also inspired by mountain furniture, featuring a slim and relatively high seat, pierced with three graphic holes. The seat is wide and comfortable, resting on a tapered and flared base. Just like the table, the colour, wood grain, and thickness of the wood make these chairs high-quality pieces. The set has retained its beautiful original patina and is in very good condition. Some defects, marks, nuances in places, and small signs of wear may obviously be present, which is inherent to its great age and previous life.
