Rare antique set consisting of an elegant extendable dining table accompanied by a suite of six turned and caned wooden chairs. The set features an aesthetic characteristic of the Henri II / neo-Renaissance taste of the 19th century, with a beautiful presence of wood, turned and fluted elements, intricately worked legs, and chairs with openwork backs. The table offers a particularly interesting configuration thanks to its two drop leaves and extension system, allowing for a significant change in its seating capacity. Table dimensions: • without extension: 71 × 132 cm. • 1 drop leaf: 99 × 132 cm. • 2 drop leaves: 132 × 132 cm. • with extension: 118 × 132 cm. • with 1 drop leaf: 149 × 132 cm. • with 2 drop leaves: 178 × 132 cm. • height 72 cm. The table can accommodate approximately 6 guests in its reduced configuration and up to 8 with the extension. Suite of 6 chairs: H. 93 × W. 45 × D. 44 cm. Seat: 44 × 35 cm – seat height 46 cm. The chairs feature remarkable turning work: baluster backs, turned elements, intricately worked legs, and stretchers. The seats are caned. Condition: beautiful old patina and normal signs of use related to age. Some previous interventions and signs of use are visible, particularly under the table. The caning also shows signs of use and/or previous repairs. Dating: 19th century, stylistic attribution Henri II / neo-Renaissance. The presence of a stamp or provenance has not been noted.
