LC4 Chaise Longue à reglage continu was designed in 1928 by Charlotte Perriand under the guidance of Swiss architect Le Corbusier. The quintessential chaise longue was part of the avant-garde Cassina iMaestri Collection for the Paris Salon d’Automne in 1929, causing furore on its premiere. This iconic, original, ageless recliner is considered a milestone of modern furniture history. It embodies the relationship between form and function in the balance between design purity and comfort. Sometimes called “the relaxing machine”, LC4 is angled to promote relaxation with its curved frame that is designed to fit the contours of the human body. Its stability is ensured through friction with the rubber tubes that sheathe the crosspieces on the base. The timeless classic is produced, as with all objects in the Le Corbusier LC furniture collection, by Cassina. The specific total black “relaxing machine” is from the 1980s. Very good condition! Identification number: 21104. Certified original Cassina edition.
