Large Italian Vintage Ceramic Harlequin Dog, 1970/80s

Large Italian vintage ceramic Harlequin dog, originating from the 1970s/80s. Beautiful and almost life-size ceramic sculpture in a typical Hollywood Regency style, depicting a Great Dane/Harlequin Dog with a spotted pattern. Italian ceramicists from the 1970s loved drama and elegance. They often gave dog sculptures the slender, proud features of a greyhound or shepherd, but combined this with the typical black-and-white spotted 'harlequin' coat so characteristic of the Great Dane. In very good condition without restorations, breaks or chips, only a few very small glaze spots.
