Painting signed and dated 1885, oil on canvas - Impressionist Marine, French School

Landscape of the Ardennes in winter. Good morning. I propose a seascape between land and sea. This work signed by a forgotten painter of the French school represents a striking contrast between 2 barges on the water in a certain tranquility, and in contrast, a great anxiety in the air with nimbus and cumulus clouds pushed by the wind from right to left. The representation of barges is quite rare in the field of fine arts. Frame dimensions: 73 cm x 50.5 cm. Dimensions of the work: 61 cm X 38 cm. The canvas has been perfectly well mounted (see the back of the canvas) and cleaned by a professional. A glossy anti-UV varnish (Sennelier) was applied. The beveled chassis is original, as well as the frame (glued, nailed and stapled) have been completely restored. An “old gold” type gilding on a handcrafted dark walnut shell has been applied to this old frame. The set, ready to hang, is truly in perfect condition for its age.
