Pair of oval portraits – Napoléon III period – Oil on panel – Signed Larché. Beautiful pair of Napoléon III period portraits, depicting a bearded man and an elegant lady, painted in bust on a sober background. Both works are executed in oil on panel, with a delicate treatment of the faces and clothing. The female portrait features a beautiful black dress adorned with a finely crafted collar and a piece of jewellery. One of the portraits is signed "Larché" and dated at the bottom. The pair is housed in beautiful oval gilded wooden frames, highlighted internally with a beaded frieze and topped with a small decorative element at the top. A decorative ensemble full of character, typical of the Second Empire taste, also interesting because the two portraits form a true pair. Some traces, wear and marks of time are visible, particularly on the paint layer and the frames, in accordance with the photographs. Period: Napoléon III, 19th century. Technique: oil on panel.
