Napoleon III stool in blackened carved wood, 19th century

Its tall and slender silhouette features remarkable woodwork, both geometric, powerful, and refined. The straight lines of the uprights contrast with the curves of the feet, the angular cutouts, and the small turned ornaments shaped like spinning tops. The whole piece has an almost sculptural presence, evoking, in some aspects, the strength and simplicity of primitive art sculptures. A beautiful balance between architectural rigor and decorative whimsy. Its tripod structure, entirely openwork, is particularly elegant. The triangular top allows for the display of a plant, a vase, a sculpture, or any other decorative object. The blackened wood shows some signs of age, revealing its natural hue in places.
