Retro chalice cup in silver metal - goldsmith gulden alsace 1930-1940

This cup is made of silver metal. Dating from the years 1930-40, it is a pretty chalice on foot. The baptismal timpani is a traditional gift: in the past, in wealthy families, the godmother offered a silver object to the child (hence the expression "to be born with a silver spoon in the mouth"). The timpani, this water cup, was one of the rare objects of goldsmithing and constituted a refuge value, transmitted to the protected. This gift could be accompanied by a shell, a spoon or a round of towel. The child will keep this present all his life and use it on a daily basis. It is marked gulden for the alsatian goldsmith. This cup is 13 cm high. In good general condition, I report traces of oxidation and use, the piedouche seems re-welded.
