Mid-century modern vase from the Hermanowa Glassworks, produced in Czechoslovakia in the 1960s, made of thick, hand-formed glass in a saturated, cool shade of blue. The colour maintains a uniform tone, deepening to a deep cobalt at the base and sides where the glass is thicker. The piece features a glossy, smooth surface and a geometric, angular form based on wide, flat panels tapering towards a stable base. The characteristic lack of decoration and the rawness of the design highlight the high quality of the material and the craftsmanship. Occasional microbubbles indicate hand production, and the sharp, distinct edges provide an authentic expression of the era. The vase is in very good condition – no chips, damage, or signs of restoration. The form and colour of this glass tell the story of the 1960s, when modernity was understood as a dialogue between technology and functional aesthetics. The vase seems to speak the language of restrained optimism of Central European design: its bold lines and cool shade evoke the image of a dynamic interior, where the transparency of glass was meant to emphasise the openness and order of the new era. Every refraction of light on the geometric shape recalls the architectural ambitions of that time, and the delicate gloss – the daily, quiet presence of classic craftsmanship. It can be displayed solo on a light wood chest of drawers or placed on a console alongside ceramic forms from the era to emphasise its modernist character. It will fit perfectly with graphite accessories and dark blue textiles, creating a slightly cool yet sophisticated visual point in a mid-century modern living room. It is also worth combining it with simple sculptures or minimalist paintings, giving the arrangement rhythm and clarity typical of collector's interiors.
