Alfredo Müller (1869-1939) was a Swiss and French artist, painter and engraver, born in Livorno and died in Paris, whose life is divided into alternating Tuscan and Parisian periods. Generally considered, wrongly, as a pupil of the Macchiaioli, Alfredo Müller is actually the disciple of the Florentine master portraitist Michele Gordigiani. Coming to Paris in 1888-1889 where he was present at the Salon des Beaux-Arts of the Universal Exhibition as a pupil of Michele Gordigiani, he briefly frequented the studio of Carolus-Duran and discovered Monet's work exhibited at the Georges Petit gallery.
