Central engraved part in perfect condition except a small scratch little visible left side above the 2 characters, • the original plate used was developed around 1800 during the egyptian campaign of napoleon I and is part of the famous series -the description of egypt- this plate must have been drawn around 1990. • the drawing is by jacques-marie le père (1763-1841) and the engraving by coquet. • the engraving shows a beautiful perspective view of the palace columns. The karnak religious complex — called karnak temple, or simply karnak — includes a vast ensemble of temple ruins, chapels, pylons and other buildings located north of thebes, now the city of luxor, egypt, on the east bank of the nile. The karnak complex, rebuilt and developed for more than 2, 000 years by successive pharaohs, from sesostris I to the middle kingdom in the ptolemaic period. It is the largest religious complex of all antiquity. It was dedicated to the theban triad headed by the god amun-ra. The complex was connected to the luxor temple by the alley of the sphinxes.
