Pair of armchairs, wooden frame, straw seats and backs. These armchairs are re-editions of the model designed by the catalan architect and designer josep torres clavé in 1934, and are inspired by traditional ibizan chairs. Designed for the pavilion of the spanish republic at the 1937 paris international exhibition, it shared the space with works by calder, miró and picasso's guernica. It has been part of the permanent collection of the barcelona design museum since 1994, and of the reina sofia museum in madrid since 2017. Made in the traditional way, they have become classics of international design and remain witnesses to the history of spain and the tragic fate of torres clavé. These two armchairs are in good condition and usable without any prior restoration. Some signs of use or repairs on the wood of one of the two in particular, affecting neither the solidity nor the aesthetics. Dimensions: width 61 cm, height (backrest) 73 cm, height (seat) 36 cm, depth 66 cm.
