Description: Superb flat desk in Louis XVI style made of mahogany: three lockable drawers with a key provided, brass patinated drawer pulls and lock entries, fluted legs, tapered feet with metal caps. Brown patinated leather top. Professional quality workshop piece, sold with its original invoice from 1992 (Ameublement Didier Videgrain, "Art de Vivre" centre Eragny/Oise), with an initial value of 13, 090 Francs including tax (~€1, 996 at the time). A brass plaque on the right side indicates a commemorative reissue of the desk of Baron Pierre de Coubertin made by Grange for the occasion of the XVI Olympic Games. I honestly specify: this is a style reissue, not a 19th-century period piece — the plaque itself indicates that the original is in the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
