Description
Charming red chalk study of a woman from the period of the first empire, 19th century. Study of a woman in an elegant costume typical of the napoleon I era, sitting on a chair and turned 3/4 to the right. She wears a dress and a headband forming a knot in her tied hair. The pencil stroke is light, a good command of drawing is noticeable. Sanguine is part of the family of earthy red pigments that can be declined in orange, ochre and brown. France, circa 1810.
