This Louis XVI style chest of drawers showcases the craftsmanship of French cabinetmakers from the late 19th century. Likely made between 1880 and 1910, in the neoclassical style that was highly favoured by the French bourgeoisie, it combines the formal rigour of the 18th century with the sturdiness of carefully crafted regional production. Its clean lines, elegant fluting, and warm-toned marble top make it a piece that is both functional and decorative, perfectly suited to a classic interior or contemporary settings that blend the old and the new. MATERIALS Structure and drawers made of solid oak, with pronounced grain and a golden honey hue. Top in red griotte marble with white and grey veining, a highly sought-after French regional marble from the Belle Époque. Bronze stamped hardware: floral-decorated handles and keyholes, typical of the late 19th century. FEATURES This antique chest of drawers, mounted on turned bun feet, offers two small high drawers (side by side) and three large stacked drawers, all of which slide very well. RENOVATION This antique chest of drawers has been gently sanded and then protected with a colourless wax, which enhances the lovely patinated hue of its oak wood. DIMENSIONS L110 X D56 X H84.5. High drawers: L41 X H9. Low drawers: L90.5 X H11.5.
