Pair of Neoclassical Wall Lights with Three Arms in Brass with Decoration
Each wall light is organised around a vertical escutcheon plate made of brass, topped with a radiant palmette, centred by a large, finely chiselled open rose and finished at the bottom with a second rose and a falling palmette. Three gracefully curved arms of light, adorned with ribboned leaves, extend from it, ending in moulded cups and bins fitted with faux candles. The vocabulary of roses, palmettes, and water leaves belongs to the neoclassical repertoire inherited from the Louis XVI and Empire styles, here interpreted by French bronze craftsmen of the 1950s, who skillfully perpetuated the great tradition of bronze and brass lighting. Condition report: Good overall condition. Brass with a beautiful golden patina, clear chiselling, old faux candles. A generous pair in terms of light, ideal on either side of a mirror, a fireplace, or in an entrance hall.
