Safi terracotta boxes

Glazed terracotta boxes from safi in morocco safi is a coastal town whose history dates back to the 11th century. Today, thanks to its abundance of clay, safi is renowned for being the capital of moroccan pottery. The commune has a multitude of pottery and ceramic production sites, the most important of which are the hill of the potters and the chaâba valley. La colline des potiers has more than 700 artisans in 72 traditional kilns and 27 gas kilns in more than 40 workshops. It is also in safi that the largest tagine in the world is located.
