Art Deco sideboard in maple burl and mahogany, attributed to Guglielmo Ulri
A refined and imposing sideboard of Italian manufacture dating back to the 1950s—a splendid expression of the era's design, attributable to the school of mid-century masters such as Gio Ponti and Osvaldo Borsani. The piece is embellished with exquisite veneer—crafted from fine poplar or maple burl (featuring rich, flowing, and striated grain patterns)—applied to the front and sides, complemented by details and finishes in mahogany with warm, amber-toned hues. The top surface is protected by an inset glass panel, flush with the frame. The main body is organized with two spacious side compartments—featuring solid doors with raised, contoured panels—and a central section containing three large drawers, fitted with elegant, recessed, gilded brass handles. The entire structure rests on an elegant, sculptural trestle base with radiating, cast-metal legs, finished with their original brass ferrules. The piece shows normal signs of wear consistent with its age and use. The locks are functional; however, the doors require a slight 'lift' to close properly.
