Faïencerie d'art de marlotte. Emile sparkling marlotte. Blue vase. Sandstone. H: 9 cm. Signed 'e.m. Marlotte on base' In perfect condition. In parallel with the constitution of the colony of barbizon, some painters are attracted by the village of marlotte. The first artists, notably caruelle d'aligny and jean-baptiste corot, arrived in 1822 and discovered barbizon, chailly and marlotte. The attraction for marlotte increased over the years among these artists, and some began to settle there like eugène cicéri. The potter emile mousseux settled around 1902 in marlotte, and remained open until 1933.
