Rosewood armchair produced by gplan from the early 1970s. This is a rare product because its availability was limited from approximately 1971 to 1976. The housemaster armchair is exceptionally comfortable and is in near new condition. It pivots and rolls perfectly and without play. Although extremely comfortable, the original foam cushions and padding no longer complied with the uk fire regulations of 1988. They were at the time rather large, heavy and spoiled its appearance. The new cushions are thinner and less inflated than those before. Its appearance remains magnificent, especially seen from behind where the rosewood blades are visible. We can compare the seat to a marsala or togo armchair, see eames loungechair. The frame and chrome trim are in very good condition. The structure is supported by a chrome-plated metal blade which allows a rocking movement. This part is securely connected to the star-shaped base by a sturdy axle tightened by a large bolt. The 70 kilos of the chair testify to the robustness of the metal parts. 4 original removable metal wheels engraved “made in england” fit onto the base. Armrest width 88cm, back height 80 cm, seat height approximately 20 cm, depth approximately 85 cm.
