Magnificent terracotta pitcher with a beautiful speckled light gray glaze. It has an elegant shape, the clay was lightly chiseled before applying the glaze. It has its cork stopper embedded in a ceramic half-sphere. The bottom of the handle is marked by the ceramist's thumbs. It is a beautiful craftsmanship, both in modeling and in glazing. Under the base, it is engraved in hollow "Combret 12, 1988" and above it a signature in iron oxide. I think it is the work of Colotte, in 1988 therefore, a ceramist who worked in Combret (department 12) until the 90s, thanks to the Atelier Lucante for this good lead. His ceramics are sometimes signed in full Colotte, and sometimes we just have an illegible signature in iron oxide. Here the mention of the village takes up the very feminine writing style of the Colotte signature that we find on other pitchers. And the last clue that would confirm this lead, the clay used for this pitcher, a dark red clay corresponds to the local clay, the clay used by the potters around Combret. This pitcher is in perfect condition, no cracks, no chips, not even a chip. It measures 27 cm in height, 30 cm in height with the stopper, approximately 16 cm in width, approximately 13 cm in maximum diameter.
