Vintage pot and box in white iron earth dressed in a beautiful green floral decoration. They are stamped below: "mason's – patent – ironstone – stratford – england" The history of mason's is a phenomenon that still makes ceramics famous today. It all began with the cessation of the importation of precious porcelain following a disagreement with the east. While the demand is growing in england. This tragedy led to the birth of the very hard feldspathic fine ceramic, discovered by the english ceramist charles james mason of staffordshire, who will be the first to patent in 1813, giving it the name of ironstone china. With the idea of copying chinese porcelain at a lower cost, mason's creates "japanese" motifs printed by transfer on iron earth, giving rise to plates and dishes decorated in blue, red, green or brown on a white background. Today, the name mason's is linked to the designs that imprint the elegance of the simplicity of oriental art and these rare pieces remain the target of collectors around the world. Placed on a dressing table or on a console, these pieces will add a delicate and elegant touch to your decoration! They are also great gifts for a collector of objects of yesteryear.
