Footed compote dish

Compote or pedestal display stand, consisting of a glass bowl engraved with floral decoration (roses, foliage) on a silver-plated metal tripod base with stylised lion's claws, featuring a baluster-shaped stem with chiselled decoration. Typical style of the Second Empire / Napoleon III, circa 1860–1880. The quality of the workmanship on the base (finely moulded claws, gadrooned knot) is meticulous. Mark of Morlot (French manufacturer of silver-plated metal, active in the 19th century in Paris).
