Modernist solid pine table, 1960s

Rectangular table in solid pine with a beautiful warm brown patina, attributed to the French designer and decorator Georges Robert, a key figure in the revival of modernised rustic furniture in the 1950s and 60s. The thick tabletop highlights the natural grain of the pine, in a simple and artisanal approach. The base features four solid cylindrical legs, a signature of Georges Robert's formal vocabulary, giving the piece a sculptural presence and excellent stability.
