Secretary from the Louis-Philippe period (circa 1830-1850) in walnut and walnut burl veneer, topped with an elegant grey Sainte-Anne marble. The façade features a beautiful work of walnut burl veneer with spectacular grain, characteristic of bourgeois furniture from the mid-19th century. The piece opens with: • a top drawer. • a drop-down secretary revealing a compartmentalised interior with small drawers and a writing surface covered in green leather. • two lower drawers. The interior is very practical with several small storage drawers and a central niche. The old lock entries and handles add a lovely authentic patina. The piece rests on a simple base typical of the Louis-Philippe style. Condition. Good overall condition with a beautiful patina of time. To note: • some signs of use and minor old restorations. • slight crack in the marble visible on one corner. • discreet small veneer losses on the drop-down. Nothing that affects the solidity or use of the piece. Dimensions: H 144 cm / W 92 cm / D 44.5 cm.
