Beautiful series of 2 chiavari napoleon III cane chairs. The chiavari flying chair is typical of napoleon III living room furniture. It was invented in italy on the ligurian coast near genoa and then sold in the famous chiavari store from which it takes its name. Its pleasant lines and openwork spindle back make it an iconic piece of furniture. The backrest is made up of small vertical bars turned into fine balusters which connect the upper band of the backrest in round arches or braces. On four tapered legs called “saber feet” because they are slightly curved like an elephant's tusk. For stability, spacers, a sort of round section bar, connect each leg. It says “veber” under the seat of the 2 chairs. In good general condition, the canework is impeccable on both chairs but slightly different in color. There is a small discreet repair on a bar of one of the two backs (see photo) without impact on the solidity of the chair. A very small lack of wood at the back of this repair is also visible (see photo). Very stable, they are robust and usable as is. Total height: 86 cm seat height: 46 cm total width: 45 cm total depth: 45 cm seat depth: 39 cm seat width: 41.5 cm back height: 44 cm back width: 38cm.
