Vintage biscuit porcelain vase by Thomas, part of the Rosenthal group, made in West Germany in the 1960s–1970s. Its slightly flattened oval shape and the high-relief floral decoration on both sides illustrate the explorations of German design in the 1960s. The contrast between the matte biscuit porcelain, the glazed interior, and the play of shadows created by the relief fully evokes the Op Art aesthetic. The decoration features a sculpted horse chestnut branch in high relief on both sides. Models of this size appear less frequently on the market than more modest formats. With a height of 24.3 cm, this version offers a sculptural presence that is equally remarkable with flowers as when displayed alone.
