Old Carpet of the Caucasus, Kazak Cloud Band, Circa 1880

Kazakh carpet of karabakh cloud strip. Ancient caucasus, circa 1880. These carpets were woven by armenian weavers in the duchy of khachen in the city of khndzoresk. They are known as the kazaks cloud band because of the design of the cloud band in the medallions. The carpet is beautifully designed by its triple medallions encrusted with bands of clouds in incredible color of dark indigo blue, sky blue, white and red, on a madder red background. This example has a warm color palette and rustic charm despite its afflicted state, it remains an attractive and unique carpet. Notice to collectors. Dimensions: 255x130 cm.
