Coconut Chair by George Nelson, Vitra

The coconut chair (1955), made again by Vitra since 1988, is characteristic of the fifties. The clarity of the forms and the reduced use of materials characterize this model. The hull of this comfortable seat, covered in leather or fabric, resembles a coconut cut into eight identical parts. Body: white, plastic fiberglass reinforced. Padding: polyurethane foam. Frame: tubular chrome steel.
