The arp collective (atelier de recherche plastique) brought together from 1954 to 1957 the designers pierre guariche, joseph-andré motte and michel mortier, who had met in the agency of designer marcel gascoin. Together they create quality furniture in a typically modernist style, using simple and geometric lines, often offering furniture - bookcases in particular - made up of several modules. They created a lot of storage furniture for the publisher charles minvielle as well as seats for the publisher steiner and lighting produced by disderot. Their objective: to simplify furniture, to create new forms that break with classicism, while maintaining a high level of quality and noble materials.
