An antique birth stool of Spanish origin, made from carved solid wood, dating from the mid-century period. This vernacular object, with a strong formal presence, was traditionally used as a birth stool, a low seat associated with traditional birthing practices. The shape is deliberately raw and expressive, with woodwork marked by visible tool marks, irregular lines, and a deep patina. The curved seat and pierced backrest enhance its sculptural character, close to brutalist and wabi-sabi aesthetics, where imperfection and materiality are fully embraced. A slight alteration is visible on one of the legs: it is a superficial wear that does not affect the stability or solidity of the object. This mark is part of its history and reinforces its authenticity. Today, this stool is appreciated both as an extra seat and as a sculptural object, placed in a minimalist, wabi-sabi, brutalist, or contemporary interior. Seat height: 37 cm.
