A nice characteristic pair of stools designed by dom hans van der laan in the netherlands in the 1970s. These stools are made of wood, crafted in the iconic “bossche school” style. This stunning set is a rare find of (dutch) design history! The wooden panels are connected by the recognizable round copper nails. Together with jan de jong, who was able to translate many of dom V.d. Laan’s idealised concepts and ideas into pioneering buildings and spaces the two have created many interior furniture. Benedictine monk and architect dom hans van der laan (1904-1991) is highly regarded in the world of architecture. The greatest part of van der laan’s life was dedicated to conceptualizing form, proportion and the way in which human beings perceive architectural spaces. He also developed the theory of plastic numbers. Measurements: h48 X w64 X d36 cm. Period: 1960s. Condition: very good and original.
