This starter or dessert service is an inventive, extraordinary ceramic work, such as the most daring artists could design in Vallauris in the 1950s. This rare model is worthy of a collection or a museum. It is composed of a large dish and 8 plates made of cracked ceramic by Ray Camart and his friend Laurent Rivara (lauray being the contraction of Laurent and Raymond). Born in Le Havre in 1908, died in 1980, Camart settled in Vallauris in the 1945s, where he remained until the early 1960s. An artist open to artistic trends, he made art accessible to all through everyday objects. All the pieces are signed and in perfect condition (the dish and 6 plates are signed Laurey, 2 plates are signed Ray Camart). Dimensions: dish h9 d35 – plates h4 d18.
