Arita porcelain bottle vase with a long crane neck (tsurukubi 鶴首) and a flattened globular body. Cinnabar glaze (shinsha 辰砂) with a dominant deep red and a violet-blue gradient at the junction of the neck and shoulder. Signed. Delivered with its tomobako (original wooden box) signed. Dimensions Height: 33 cm — Diameter: 20 cm Soejima Shiro 副島四郎 (1921–2017) Ceramicist from Arita (Saga Prefecture, Hizen Province). Founder of the Tōseian workshop and the Shirō-gama kiln. Specialised in cinnabar glaze (shinsha), a copper-reduction enamel characterised by its deep reds achieved at high temperatures, in the tradition of Arita porcelain.
