Exceptional and rare wall (or table) plate in stoneware from the modernist era, designed and made by the Danish master ceramist Herluf Gottschalk Olsen (signed GO), dating from the 1950s-1960s. This significant piece, measuring 38 cm in length, has a prestigious provenance: it still bears its original label from the famous design house Illum Bolighus in Copenhagen, a true temple of high-end Scandinavian design curation in the 20th century. The plate is distinguished by the unique depth of its reactive glazes, blending intense shades of cobalt blue, indigo, and midnight blue with a superb textured relief. Designed to be versatile, it incorporates a hanging system on the back, allowing it to be displayed vertically as a wall sculpture. It can also be used on a sideboard as a catch-all or decorative tray. An ideal centrepiece for a brutalist, modernist, or Japandi-inspired interior. Designer: Herluf Gottschalk Olsen.
